Through the Texas Humane Heroes Animal Shelter in Leander, Texas, I organized several special projects to help increase animal adoptions. Typically shelter photos are done while the animals are in their cages. The idea behind these projects was that in using professional photography, potential adopters could see a prettier, happier side to the animals. Our hope was that we could increase the adoption rates and get more of those sweet animals into some new forever homes!
There are many ways to help the shelter, whether it be through adoptions, fostering a pet, volunteering time, donating items from their wish list or simply a monetary donation to help them continue in their important work! Please visit their website and see how you can help. If you are at all thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from a shelter, any shelter, rather than going through a breeder. There are so many homeless animals just waiting to become your new best friend! Look how sweet…. you know you want one……….!! Every year, a wonderful event is put on called Mack, Jack & McConaughey. It is the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas coaching legend Mack Brown. Their nonprofit has given over $3.5 million dollars to local charitable organizations. Mack, Jack and Matthew are especially committed to maximizing the return to the community, specifically benefiting organizations dedicated to children’s education, health and wellness. I felt fortunate to be able to work with Mill Photo Studio, capturing beautiful photos for this amazing event!
Each year, the weekend event consists of a gala, a golf tournament, a fashion show and an evening concert at ACL Moody Theater. I photographed the concert portion and got to be a part of some amazing stuff! It's a really extraordinary collaboration that does some outstanding work for the community! Jimmy Kimmel was the evening's MC and I'm pretty sure I only giggled when he talked to me backstage. Sheesh! At any rate, I'm super excited to share some of my favorite photos here! I had an absolute BLAST volunteering to photograph this event along with one of my best photographer friends. The event was called Cupid's Undie Run. What's a Cupid's Undie Run you wonder? Well it's a charity event in Austin, Texas. It is about a mile run, in your bedroom-best, on a cold Valentine’s weekend, all to to raise money for The Children’s Tumor Foundation!
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the world’s largest non-government organization dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis (NF) through research. Currently, there is no cure for NF and there are frighteningly few treatment options. The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a Charity Navigator 4-Star charity that prides itself on efficiency, spending 82.4% of its revenue on program expenses and less than 8% on administrative costs. This year Austin raised over $83,000 and nationwide $3.5 MILLION was raised!! Curious what February morning underwear race must look like? These photos are truly awesome, if I do say so myself.
